The Load Planner position is responsible for a segment of the Roehl Transport customer base. Responsibilities include utilization of available resources (drivers/trailers), building a close relationship with other employees in the team, as well as all customers in the regional area in order to fully meet or exceed their service expectations. The Load Planner seeks ways to improve day-to-day processes, increase efficiencies, and reduce waste. This position develops and maintains a strong working relationship with customers, Customer Service Representatives, Customer Service Assistants, and Driver Managers to ensure customer needs are satisfied. Builds close working relationships with all customers in order to fully understand their total service needs.

RELATIONSHIPS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Have two years experience with demonstrated mastery dealing with customer service/operations.

Have held a previous position where sound judgment, initiative, and tactful communication skills were demonstrated.

PC, CRT, or typing experience.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communicate effectively with all employees to meet or exceed the total service needs of the customer.

Use Micro-Map as a tool to effectively meet both the customer and driver needs.

Manage trailer needs at specified locations.
-
Work for a maximum use of technology, including mobile communications as well as work station efficiencies.

Data accuracy is a daily priority.

Provide back-up support to other employees in the team to eliminate any customer hold time.

Provide back-up support to the Assistant Manager and Manager of Customer Service.

Be proactive in balancing the customer, driver, and organizational needs.

Understand the region in detail to include volume, flows, seasonal fluctuations, service requirements, trailer needs, relay points, and maintenance needs/facilities.

Work as a team to ensure that regional boundaries are crossed to maximize utilization of equipment and minimize deadhead mileage.

Plan and approve driver work assignments.

Monitor and control relays at Roehl yards.
-
Ensure on-time pickup and delivery of all loads to include creating relays if necessary.

Analyze service failures to address problem issues and update service failures screen daily.

Deliver key factor results for utilization, load ratio, and billed miles.

Make good decisions for the entire company (balance company needs with driver needs).

Monitor satellite and voicemail messages.

Create and dispatch deadhead orders.

Answer the night bell on those days when you are assigned to start shift before 7 a.m.
